Carol Sims

Carol, a Charlottesville native, is now in practice with Riverbend Counseling Group, LLC. She has forty years experience as a psychotherapist beginning with a successful practice in Charlottesville for seventeen years before moving to Montana. There she continued to counsel while also serving as an ordained Episcopal Priest, now retired from full-time ministry. She has also worked with three community agencies providing a wide variety of experience in the mental health and substance abuse realms.

Carol has background training and experience seeing cancer survivors for psycho-oncology, and, their caregivers, as well as those coping with other medical issues, illness, or sexual dysfunctions.

Her extensive training and utilization of Dialectical Behavior Therapy for individuals and groups in the past ten years provides skills for those with certain personality disorders or emotion dysregulation.

She offers crisis intervention, conflict management, and trauma informed care, along with spiritual direction, pastoral, pre-marital, marital, and relationship services for all partnered genders. She is versed in a variety of interventions and provides the opportunity for healing from the impact of major life changes or losses, and the motivation for a fulfilling, mindful, and meaningful life.

Carol is certified to offer individual and group supervision for LPC licensure. She accepts private payment or insurance.
