Jacob Steele (he/ him) holds a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University. Jacob believes in a client-centered, strengths-based approach as a ground for genuine therapeutic relationships with clients of all backgrounds. He has experience in mindfulness, trauma therapy, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy), and works with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. He has a special interest in working with veterans and those in the LGQBTQ+ community. Most recently before Riverbend he worked as a clinician at Region Ten's Wellness Recovery Center.
A Navy veteran and US Naval Academy graduate, Jacob entered into the international humanitarian field after leaving the military. There, he saw the effects of trauma and the possibilities for recovery firsthand. This led him to became interested in more direct trauma treatment and pushed him to begin his journey to becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He lives in Nelson County with his wife and daughter, where they raise chickens and bees.
